CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Jun 19, 2013) - For 66 years, the Human Resources Association of Calgary (HRAC) has been serving the needs of HR professionals by providing Calgarians with opportunities to acquire a comprehensive understanding of current and emerging human resources issues, research and practices.
This Association was organized by a group of personnel managers and executives of leading firms in Calgary on December 10th, 1946, as the Calgary Personnel Association and officially became the HRAC in 1995. To continue their mandate of providing the most essential and comprehensive professional development resources for Human Resources professionals, the HRAC will be dissolving the association, June 30, 2013, to become a chapter under the Human Resources Institute of Alberta (HRIA).
As the doors close at the HRAC, they will be having one last celebration on June 20th, 2013 at the Hotel Arts where they will create a lasting legacy for Human Resources in Calgary by presenting the Calgary Foundation with a cheque for approximately $700,000. The mandate of the donation is to create scholarships for HR students in the City of Calgary and help elevate the profession.
"This donation to the Calgary Foundation is our final gift to the community we have served over the past 66 years," says Laura Hansen Somers, President of the HRAC. "It's our way of saying thank you to Calgarians, and although our Association is dissolving, we want to continue to foster an environment of understanding on human resources issues."
