The online home media brand unveils its experiential home base for the brand’s carefully curated storytelling and marketing initiatives
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 28, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Home design site Hunker debuts its first experiential initiative with Hunker House, an IRL embodiment of the digital publication’s aesthetic and philosophy of good design for everyday life. The loft-style house in Venice, California will serve as an intimate, “always on” space for original content creation, brand storytelling, events, and partnership activations, bringing together marquee brands and key leaders in home decor and interior design.
Curated by Hunker’s editorial team and led by Hunker’s Editor-in-Chief, Eve Epstein, Hunker House is an organic extension of the brand’s editorial mission to provide home inspiration, knowledge, and DIY solutions for real people and design enthusiasts.
“If the Hunker brand were a home, it would be this house,” said Eve Epstein, Editor-in-Chief of Hunker. “We wanted to create a physical embodiment of the Hunker identity: a headquarters where the helpful meets the inspirational for real people designing real spaces. Hunker House isn’t a pop-up, but a permanent platform for telling culturally relevant stories and working with like-minded partners.”
Hunker House will have a "hosting" component where digital influencers who share Hunker’s design philosophy will be invited to stay at the house while they immerse themselves in Hunker's curated space to capture their own IRL moments. The first to stay in the Hunker House will be the digital influencers Roshanda Cummings and Erin Johnson known as @BrownKids, a Baltimore-based duo known for their minimalism lifestyle and keen eye for design in their own lives.
“As Hunker continues to cement its place within the home category, it’s become important to have a physical space for experiential programming that is authentic to who we are as a brand,” said Jason Lepore, Vice President and General Manager for Hunker. “We wanted to create unique opportunities for our brand partners to tell their stories and interact with consumers in a way that is approachable and true to the Hunker audience.”
Hunker will host both public and private events at the house, such as DIY workshops, panel discussions, intimate dinners and industry mixers. Hunker House’s Initial brand partners include: Blu Dot, Dims, Sonos, Armadillo & Co., Bend, Floyd, Hem, Year & Day, Ettitude, Luma Sleep, Society6 and Saatchi Art.
Hunker House honors the media brand’s California roots, incorporating the art and design sensibility of its Venice Beach neighborhood with local artists and brands featured in the home.
The first Hunker House event will be hosted by Blu Dot, the Minneapolis-based furniture company, to celebrate the official launch of the house on January 31.
