Hawaii always gets creative when awarding scholarships to walk-ons.

We’ve seen a lot of scholarship videos, but the way senior linebacker Max Broman received the big news was really unique. How about a little hypnosis?

Watch this:

Broman had to wait through all of the wacky, totally legitimate and real hypnosis stuff before receiving his scholarship letter from the hypnotist himself. Broman was either still under the hypnotist’s spell or just really shocked by the gesture, because he didn’t have much to say.

It didn’t take long for his teammates to figure out what was going on, though, and they exploded in celebration.

Still, part of me wonders if Broman thinks the whole thing was part of being under the hypnotist’s spell. After all, it must be really weird to return to reality after some random guy you just met is controlling your every move. Norm MacDonald explained this phenomenon way better than I can (though the R-rated version of his bit is way funnier):

As creative as this scholarship reveal was, it didn’t involve a koala, so it’s not Hawaii’s best.

But at least Broman didn’t have to climb to the top of a high-dive.
