Images show Hurricane Maria's crippling impact on Puerto Rico

Hurricane Maria barreled into the Dominican Republic on Thursday morning after it left 3 million people in Puerto Rico without power.

Carrying 115-mph winds, the storm brought destruction and severe flooding to many areas in Puerto Rico -- forcing dozens of families to be evacuated from Levittown near San Juan.

Maria is projected to make its way north through the Atlantic, continuing to leave people without electricity, shelter and other daily necessities.
