The Dow Jones Industrial Average briefly broke the 13000 mark yesterday, but the day ended with the other major indexes mixed and off their their session highs.

The Russell 2000 was lower again at 823.22, down 5.46 points, or 0.66 percent. It is sitting right at its 10-day moving average.

The S&P 500 was up less than 1 point to finish at 1362.21 as it came off its lows of the day into the close.

The Nasdaq 100 was up 6 points, or 0.23 percent, to close at 2590.24. It is just off Thursday's close but did hit a multi-year intraday high during yesterday's session.

The VIX shows more interesting action, up 2.3 percent to 18.19. Part of this resulted from repricing of the SPX options after the long weekend, but the VIX futures were all higher for most of the day as well.
