Indiana hires development vet to lead farm efforts

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The Indiana Department of Agriculture has named a northern Indiana development veteran to lead the agency's own economic development and trade initiatives.

The agency says Connie Neininger has been president of the Cass Logansport Economic Development Organization. Before that, she was the White County economic development director. She's been involved with the $1.2 billion Meadow Lake wind farm, the BioTown USA Development Authority, the construction of two methane-conversion energy plants, and a $350 million iron ore pellet plant in the White County town of Reynolds.

The Michigan City native also organized the Western Indiana Sustainable Energy Resource group and chaired the Midwest Indiana Economic Development region, now known as Indiana's Technology Corridor.

Neininger's appointment was announced this week.
