Indonesia denies shifted stance on Myanmar to back new elections

JAKARTA, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Indonesia has not shifted itsstance on Myanmar to back new elections in the Southeast Asiancountry after a military coup removed the elected government,foreign ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah told a briefing onTuesday.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has been rallying supportamong Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members fora special meeting on the crisis and sources said Jakarta isproposing a plan to keep the junta to its promise of holding newelections.(Reporting by Agustinus Beo Da Costa and Tom AllardWriting by Ed Davies; Editing by Martin Petty)
