Institutional investors have a lot riding on Chord Energy Corporation (NASDAQ:CHRD) with 61% ownership

If you want to know who really controls Chord Energy Corporation (NASDAQ:CHRD), then you'll have to look at the makeup of its share registry. The group holding the most number of shares in the company, around 61% to be precise, is institutions. That is, the group stands to benefit the most if the stock rises (or lose the most if there is a downturn).

And as as result, institutional investors reaped the most rewards after the company's stock price gained 7.6% last week. One-year return to shareholders is currently 69% and last week’s gain was the icing on the cake.

What Does The Institutional Ownership Tell Us About Chord Energy?

Institutional investors commonly compare their own returns to the returns of a commonly followed index. So they generally do consider buying larger companies that are included in the relevant benchmark index.
