Intercept: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

NEW YORK (AP) _ Intercept Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ICPT) on Thursday reported a loss of $75.9 million in its second quarter.

The New York-based company said it had a loss of $2.58 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $2.83 per share.

The drugmaker posted revenue of $43.6 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $39.9 million.

Intercept shares have climbed 57 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined 17 percent in the last 12 months.
