The Internet’s Favorite Fashion Bootlegger Is Behind Bad Bunny and Billie Eilish’s Wild Concert Looks
Last night, Bad Bunny, everyone’s favorite puppy-faced trap rapper, gyrated on stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles wearing a larger-than-life loud look: a cornflower blue canvas jacket and pant set engulfed with jumbo LV logos. He's hardly the only artist who has been swimming in the XXL monogrammed styles: A few days earlier at Coachella, singer Billie Eilish took a similar padded denim incarnation for a stroll on the concert grounds. While the logos certainly are Louis Vuitton derived, they aren’t a new drop from Virgil Abloh. Instead, the pieces are the work of Imran Moosvi, aka @Imran_Potato, Instagram’s favorite bootlegger to the stars.
Moosvi, who is currently in China to produce his next collection—and has sent me several Instagrams of misspelled Supreme-meets-Birkin bags—has spent several years creating custom knock-offs for celebrities including rappers Travis Scott and Playboi Carti. Moosvi’s most recent LV-inspired pieces are a part of and based on a capsule collection that he launched earlier this January. “It is glitchy, all over the place LV,” he says. “It was me reimagining the monogram as if the symbols were thrown up on the jacket.”
The pieces are chock full of over-the-top noughties inspirations. A week ago at Coachella, Bad Bunny also wore a black Murakami-style tracksuit by Moosvi inspired by the cotton candy colorways of Bape during the 2000s. As for what is next? Well, Moosvi has created almost everything with a logo, from a doll wearing a mini LV onesie (held by George Lopez!) to Gucci print toilet paper. In other words, the monogram is Moosvi’s oyster and we're just wearing it.
