While ChampionX Corporation (NASDAQ:CHX) shareholders are probably generally happy, the stock hasn't had particularly good run recently, with the share price falling 12% in the last quarter. But that doesn't change the fact that the returns over the last year have been very strong. Indeed, the share price is up an impressive 181% in that time. So we think most shareholders won't be too upset about the recent fall. The real question is whether the business is trending in the right direction.
With that in mind, it's worth seeing if the company's underlying fundamentals have been the driver of long term performance, or if there are some discrepancies.

Before buying or selling a stock, we always recommend a close examination of historic growth trends, available here..
A Different Perspective
Pleasingly, ChampionX's total shareholder return last year was 181%. That certainly beats the loss of about 14% per year over three years. It could well be that the business has turned around -- or else regained the confidence of investors. While it is well worth considering the different impacts that market conditions can have on the share price, there are other factors that are even more important. Even so, be aware that ChampionX is showing 2 warning signs in our investment analysis , and 1 of those makes us a bit uncomfortable...
