SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Invitae Corp. (NVTA) on Wednesday reported a loss of $78.7 million in its third quarter.
The San Francisco-based company said it had a loss of 82 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for costs related to mergers and acquisitions, were 69 cents per share.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 52 cents per share.
The genetic testing company posted revenue of $56.5 million in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $55 million.
Invitae shares have climbed 43% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $15.86, an increase of 11% in the last 12 months.
