IoTeX Presents Innovative IoT Privacy Technology at CES

LAS VEGAS, NV / ACCESSWIRE / January 11, 2019 / IoTeX, a privacy-centric blockchain network for IoT devices, recently debuted several innovative technologies for securing edge devices and preserving user privacy at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.1

CES is the world's largest tech conference, hosted in January every year, and sets the tone for the year's upcoming technological scene. Data privacy has emerged as one of the leading topics this year, with IoTeX presenting their solutions following Blackberry's keynote presentation on the lack of consumer trust in IoT devices.2

IoTeX is tackling edge device privacy and security by introducing several novel cryptographic primitives into their blockchain transaction structure, including secure multi-party computation (SMPC)3 and threshold signatures4. Further, IoTeX debuted a lightweight, blockchain-compatible trusted execution environment (TEE)5 for secure edge device authentication, role-based access control, ID and device management capabilities, and end-to-end trust for IoT devices.

TEE's enable secure computation and privacy protection within an adversarial computing environment by isolating code execution within an application. Their deployment in IoT devices can help maintain their integrity close to the edge while retaining scalability.

''Since day one, IoTeX's goal has been to bring trust and privacy to IoT using blockchain technology,'' says Jing Sun, Co-founder of IoTeX. ''We are delighted to showcase our new privacy and IoT innovations at CES as we continue to lead innovation in our industry.''

IoTeX showcased several of their products during live demos at CES, including their DKSAP-IoT protocol and lightweight trusted hardware6, which was used with a smart home solution for controlling and authorizing access to a variety of IoT devices while ensuring full data privacy for the user.

Privacy concerns remain endemic following persistent data scandals and centralized control of IoT back-end infrastructure, largely precluding their adoption for sensitive computation that requires high levels of privacy and security.

''Privacy is one of the greatest challenges of our generation and is something we take extremely seriously,'' says Qevan Guo, Co-founder of IoTeX. ''We look forward to working with our global partners to implement IoTeX's privacy innovations into real-world IoT use cases very soon.''

IoTeX's comprehensive design that incorporates bleeding-edge trust and privacy technologies, along with a scalable blockchain network topography, represents important strides in the field of IoT. IoTeX will continue their innovation field with numerous milestones in the pipeline for 2019.

The IoTeX mainnet Alpha launch is scheduled for Q1, which includes block producer elections and token swap functionality. Their privacy-preserving subchain and IoT device hub will follow in Q2 and Q3, enabling developers and enterprises to build private and secure IoT applications on the IoTeX network.

The IoTeX team will supplement their efforts into enhanced IoT privacy and security with additional research papers on associated technological advancements throughout 2019. IoTeX is an open-source project, and you can find more in-depth information through their Github repository. With more than 15 global partners and a promising glimpse into their technical developments at CES, IoTeX is poised to lead the evolution of IoT technology.
