IPhone 6 wallet may use NXP

Apple (AAPL) is reportedly in talks with Dutch chipmaker NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) to add near-field communications technology to the iPhone 6; it would enable owners of the device to send money by wirelessly connecting to payment terminals or ticketing systems, says the Financial Times. On Thu., Apple sent out media invitations to a special event on Sept. 9, where the iPhone 6 and a smartwatch are expected to be unveiled. NXP stock gapped up to an all-time high of 69.50 but then closed at 68.52.
