What is the latest squad news?

Italy

Italy captain Sergio Parisse will miss the Six Nations clash with Ireland on Sunday after suffering concussion palying for his club Stade Francais at the weekend.

The Italian federation said he was following the required head injury protocols after a suspected concussion in his club's defeat by Lyon in the French Top 14 competition on Saturday.

Parisse will stay with the Italy squad this week as they prepare for the game at Rome's Olympic Stadium

The 35-year-old Parisse broke the record for the most Six Nations appearances at the start of this year’s competition when Italy lost to Scotland in Edinburgh.

He also played in their last game against Wales and has started each of his 67 Six Nations outings.

Italy’s skipper boasts 136 caps in total, having made his test debut back in 2002.

Ireland

Garry Ringrose will miss Ireland's Guinness Six Nations trip to Italy, having failed to beat his hamstring complaint.

Ireland must do without the much-vaunted Leinster centre for Sunday's Stadio Olimpico trip, though that loss is eased by Chris Farrell being passed fit after a knee-injury scare.

Farrell impressed in Ireland's 22-13 victory in Scotland on Saturday, February 9, but limped out of Munster's Pro14 clash against Southern Kings on Friday night.

Iain Henderson and Tadhg Beirne have returned to Ireland's squad to bolster boss Joe Schmidt's options at lock, though Rhys Ruddock misses out through hamstring trouble and Will Addison is sidelined with a minor back complaint.

What are they saying?

Richie Murphy on Jonny Sexton:

"He plays flat on the line; when you play flat on the line, you are going to get hit," said Murphy.

"Obviously we don't want him off the pitch, but there is definitely a fine line between what is fair and what isn't fair.

"As long as the referees are able to judge that and decide that, Johnny is not going to change the way he plays.

"If he changes, he is not the same player he was. He doesn't create the same holes for players that he creates for other people.

"Then there is no point in having him. It's a two-fold thing really.

"The idea of him changing his game so that he can stay on the pitch doesn't really fit.

"He needs to play the game he feels is best. He is a confrontational type of character, he wants to play on the gain line.
