Japan July core machinery orders rise 5.3% m/m

TOKYO, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Japan's core machinery orders rose 5.3% in July from the previous month, government data showed on Wednesday, stronger than a 0.8% decline expected by economists in a Reuters poll.

Compared with a year earlier, core orders, a highly volatile data series regarded as a leading indicator of capital spending in the coming six to nine months, gained 12.8%, the Cabinet Office data found.
