MILPITAS, Calif. (AP) -- JDS Uniphase Corp. said Friday it paid $85 million to acquire Arieso, a company that makes software that allows mobile network operators to improve network performance.
JDS Uniphase makes equipment for optical communications networks. It said it is paying cash for Arieso, which is based in the U.K. The company said Arieso had $27 million in contract bookings in 2012.
JDS Uniphase expects to take $1 million to $2 million in additional expenses in the current quarter as a result of the purchase.
Shares of JDS Uniphase rose 20 cents to $15.43 in afternoon trading.
