LINCROFT, NJ--(Marketwire - Feb 21, 2013) - Dr. Patrick Cuozzo, a New Jersey orthodontist, is committed to making dental services convenient and accessible for his patients. At Cuozzo Orthodontic Specialists, Dr. Cuozzo offers traditional braces, lingual braces, Invisalign®, and an array of orthodontic appliances. He recently joined a mission trip to Tennessee with the goal of expanding his services beyond the local community while participating in charitable work.

Dr. Cuozzo collaborated with the Remote Area Medical® (RAM) Volunteer Corps to offer his services to underprivileged communities in Knoxville, TN. RAM is a public volunteer-supported charitable organization that pools the talents of doctors, nurses, pilots, veterinarians, and support workers in mission trips that provide health care, dental care, and eye care to underserved populations within the United States and beyond. Stan Brock founded the organization in 1985, and in March of 2004, the Senate passed a resolution honoring RAM for "Compassion and Dedication to providing medical care."

"I decided to join this trip because I enjoy giving back to the community. The gratitude patients show you is amazing, and they are so thankful someone is donating their time and effort to help out," Dr. Cuozzo says.

Since RAM's inception, volunteers have provided dental relief to thousands of patients. For Knoxville patients who require dental work but cannot afford it, Dr. Cuozzo and his fellow volunteer dentists can often improve serious dental problems in a single session. This dental work not only provides patients with better oral health, but can also improve the patient's overall health as many dental ailments affect areas of the body aside from the mouth.

Early on, RAM solely offered its patients emergency extractions. During their most recent expedition, Dr. Cuozzo and the rest of his team with RAM were able to offer services including dental restorations, cleanings, and fluoride treatments.

Dr. Cuozzo has been participating in mission trips for the last 20 years and plans on continuing to participate in similar trips in the future. "I encourage other dentists to participate in these mission trips because it is such a rewarding and life-changing experience."
