JetBlue to Fly to New Ground

JetBlue Airways (JBLU) announced plans to reach its 49th destination from the Logan International Airport at Boston. The airline will bring its plan into effect by operating two daily flights from Logan Airport to Houston's William P. Hobby Airport, starting July 25.

Given this is the first regular scheduled service between Boston and Houston, JetBlue aims to render superior services and a comfortable flying experience for flyers at a reasonable price. Customers can book tickets at its website at a sale price of $49 one-way between the two airports till Apr 2. The tickets will be applicable for travel between Sep 3 and Oct 9.

Boston’s biggest carrier – that operates more flights than any other airline at the Logan Airport – introduces services to nearly five new spots on average every year from the city. Last year, JetBlue commenced flights to Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas, Charleston, SC and Grand Cayman in The Cayman Islands.

JetBlue, additionally, offers passengers the benefit of connecting services to Europe and beyond from Boston through partner airlines Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Icelandair, Japan Airlines, Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic as well as to New England on Cape Air.

JetBlue has the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleet – consisting of 127 Airbus A320 aircraft and 53 EMBRAER 190 aircraft – among the other major U.S. airlines such as United Continental Holdings Inc. (UAL), Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) and Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV).

The airline, over the past years, has been concentrating on launching flights and services to various locations to expand its operational base. In the coming months, JetBlue aims to start services in Albuquerque, N.M.; Philadelphia; Penn and Medellin, Colombia.

JetBlue currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). We believe JetBlue is well positioned for growth due to its distinctive business model, unique on-board services, fuel hedging strategy, strong liquidity positions and a non-unionized workforce. The company’s growing presence in key markets and penetration into untapped arenas will support its growth momentum.
