The airline announced the new daily non-stop route in May as part of continued growth in South Florida as well as in the Caribbean and Latin America where JetBlue is a leading carrier. JetBlue will soon operate up to 95 daily flights at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood and will serve more than two dozen destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America.

"Ecuador is quickly becoming one of the top travel destinations in Latin America which makes Quito an excellent addition to our growing route map," said Dave Clark, vice president network planning, JetBlue. With daily flights from our focus city in Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood, trips to Quito for any of these incredible experiences is easier than ever for customers flying from anywhere across the JetBlue network."

Quito, the world's highest capital city at more than 9,300 feet above sea level, features one of the least-altered, best-preserved historic centers in the world which was declared one of the first World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978. The city is also home to a long list of museums, parks and other attractions, including one of the highest cable cars in the world.

"Improving air connectivity to Ecuador is a priority for the Ministry of Tourism. Reducing flight times and competitive pricing are key to our success in convincing North America travelers that our destination is their next vacation," said Ecuadorian Minister of Tourism, Sandra Naranjo. "We are delighted to begin this long-term relationship with JetBlue Airways. The company's experience, high-levels of customer service and creative marketing will all contribute to the success of this new route, connecting one of our most important markets with the four, diverse and compelling worlds of Ecuador: Amazon, Andes, Pacific Coast and the Galápagos Islands."
