On Sept. 19, Jimmy Fallon turns 47 years old — and when he does, he’ll celebrate as a multi-millionaire who holds one of the most coveted gigs in show business. “The Tonight Show” host and “Saturday Night Live” (“SNL”) alum is one of the most popular — and successful — comedian/writers on the planet.

Jimmy Fallon started out imitating “SNL” as a kid with his sister. In 1998, he landed a dream job as a cast member on the show thanks to his stint as a stand-up comedian and improv performer in Los Angeles. He achieved big things during his run — quickly becoming a fan favorite and even hosting the MTV Video Music Awards in 2002. In 2004, Fallon left “SNL” to pursue what turned out to be a lukewarm acting career on the big screen with roles in “Fever Pitch” and “Taxi.”

Five years later, though, he returned to the small screen to helm NBC’s “Late Night.” His celebrity — and his net worth — hit an even higher level when he replaced Jay Leno as the host of the iconic late-night standard, “The Tonight Show,” in 2014.

Net Worth

Jimmy Fallon’s net worth is estimated to be roughly $60 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth — but how does he make all that money?

“SNL” cast members earn up to $7,000 per episode starting out, reports Celebrity Net Worth, but they can earn much more as they get established (Kenan Thompson is rumored to make $25,000 per episode). They also get a bonus if they write a sketch that makes it on the air.

As a full-time cast member, Fallon became one of the show’s most prominent faces as the co-anchor of the popular “Weekend Update” — a role he played for four years on “SNL.”

Roles in several movies — including “Fever Pitch,” “Taxi” and “Whip It” — likely banked Fallon at least $1 million. When he returned to television as the host of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” his annual salary was $5 million, reported The Richest in 2013. But the real money would come from “The Tonight Show.”

Late Night Salary

When NBC announced in 2013 that Jimmy Fallon would replace longtime host Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show,” the Daily Mail reported that Fallon would earn $12 million a year as host. Fallon’s salary was reportedly $3 million less than Jay Leno’s salary — that is, after Leno took a $10 million pay cut from $25 million to $15 million in 2012. Leno reportedly made $32 million between May 2011 and May 2012 alone, reports Forbes. Before his contract was extended in 2021, Fallon made an estimated $16 million a year as host.

‘The Tonight Show’ Contract Extension

The most recent landmark in Jimmy Fallon’s career is his five-year contract extension. NBC locked Fallon in as host of “The Tonight Show” through 2026

It’s unknown how much Jimmy Fallon’s salary is as a result of the new contract, but considering that his salary was estimated to be $16 million per year before the contract extension, it stands to reason that he’s making even more now.

Endorsements

Jimmy Fallon has earned a considerable amount of his $60 million net worth by lending his charm and likability to the world of corporate branding. He has appeared in advertising campaigns for several major brands, including Pepsi, Capital One, Xfinity and Apple, the latter of which he starred alongside Justin Timberlake to promote the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. However, it’s unclear how much these brands paid Fallon for these endorsements.

In 2020, Fallon made his Super Bowl debut with a commercial for Michelob Ultra which saw him competing with John Cena (and other athletes) in a variety of sports.

As he collects even more credits — and more money — one thing’s for certain: Jimmy Fallon isn’t slowing down.
