The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon may be on hiatus because of the Winter Olympics, but that’s not stopping Fallon from pumping out five minutes of entertainment every night this week. The monologue, shortened to just a few minutes, touched on Fergie’s horrendous rendition of the National Anthem at Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game, with some Olympic jokes thrown in.
Fallon then invited Paul Rudd for a timed, 60-second interview. Fallon asked questions, letting Rudd get in a few words before interrupting and moving on. Rudd did get the chance to plug his new Netflix movie, Mute. At least he was able to make the point that it’s “kind of a sci-fi…”
Of course a five-minute show doesn’t allow time for a musical act. But it wasn’t necessary, as Rudd and Fallon performed a rushed version of The Isley Brothers’ “Shout.”
