John Mulaney to Host SNL in March

John Mulaney is returning to his Studio 8H roots: The former Saturday Night Live writer will host the late-night program on March 2.

Mulaney — who appeared on a “Weekend Update” segment with Pete Davidson just last month — previously took the SNL hosting reins on April 14, 2018. He joins fellow alums Conan O’Brien and Larry David as one of only three non-cast member writers to host the show. The announcement was made during Saturday’s Don Cheadle-led broadcast.

In addition, NBC has confirmed that country singer Thomas Rhett will serve as musical guest, marking the performer’s first time on the sketch comedy series.

Mulaney — who was part of the SNL writing team for six seasons — recently provided the voice of Peter Porker/Spider-Ham in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He is also part of the voice cast of Netflix’s animated comedy series Big Mouth, which this week released a special Valentine’s Day installment titled “My Furry Valentine.” Additionally, the stand-up comedian headlined his own short-lived Fox sitcom Mulaney and won an Emmy Award for writing the 2018 comedy special John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City.
