John Oliver blasts Meghan McCain as 'most embarrassing' child of a politician
On Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, Oliver took a shot at The View co-host and daughter of the late Sen. John McCain Meghan McCain. This comes less than two weeks after McCain appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers, where things got a bit snitty when talking about Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). That, along with the now-deleted profanity-laden Twitter tirade McCain’s husband, Ben Domenech, directed at Meyers following the encounter, seemed to be the impetus for Oliver’s jab.
After showing a clip featuring a leather-clad member of the Icelandic band Hatari, who is also apparently the son of Iceland’s ambassador to the U.K., Oliver said, “Wow. Now, you may be thinking that’s the most embarrassing child of a prominent political figure you’ve ever seen, but let me remind you of the continued existence of Meghan McCain.”
Oliver followed that by practically daring Domenech to give him the same treatment he gave Meyers.
“Oh no. Oh no. Oh, I bet her husband is gonna get so mad at me now,” Oliver said mockingly. “What on earth is he gonna tweet and then delete. I can’t wait to find out.”
Last Week Tonight With John Oliver airs Sundays at 11 p.m. on HBO.
