Johnny Depp Left With a Black Eye After Allegedly Being Punched in the Face by Amber Heard

Johnny Depp accused Amber Heard of punching him twice in the face back in 2016 and now The Blast has obtained the photo of his injuries, which is being used as part of his new lawsuit against his ex-wife.

The accusation was made last year as part of a libel lawsuit Depp filed against a U.K. tabloid for calling him a “wife-beater.”

Depp claimed on the night of April 21, 2016, he was late for Heard’s 30th birthday dinner. When he returned home, Depp claimed Heard was upset and began criticizing him. He claims he was reading in bed when Heard became “aggressive and violent, punching him twice in the face.”

Depp says an employee of his then took the photo — which shows Depp with a shiner under his left eye — the next day.

During the couple’s legal battle, Depp’s security guard, Starling Jenkins, testified about the night in question, though he did not witness the alleged attack. He said Heard had been celebrating her birthday at the couple’s apartment with some friends.

Jenkins said his shift ended at 11:00 PM, right around when Heard’s guests were leaving, and Depp had not yet returned home.

He claimed he returned the next day to take Heard and her friends to Coachella.

“When I entered the residence,” Jenkins testified, “Amber explained to me that she had thrown Johnny’s cell phone — and the wallet containing it — off the balcony the night before.”

Jenkins said he was able to use “Find My Phone” to help him find where Depp’s belongings had ended up but when he couldn’t find them, he asked several homeless men he found in the area for help.

He then explains, “One homeless man admitted to me that he had the phone, and he returned the phone to me in exchange for the following: (1) $425 cash; (2) three chicken tacos; (3) 2 bags of chips; (4) 2 apples; and (5) four bottles of water.”

When Johnny Depp made the allegations against Heard last year, one of her attorneys told PEOPLE the “allegations are totally false.”

Amber accused Johnny in a restraining order during the couple’s divorce of assaulting her, including throwing a phone that hit the actress in the face.

The Blast reached out to Heard for comment — so far, no word back.

As The Blast first reported, Johnny Depp sued Heard for defamation over an op-ed Heard wrote last year where she referred to herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” Depp denies ever abusing Heard and is asking for $50 million in damages.

In his lawsuit, Depp takes issue with an article Heard wrote for the Washington Post in December 2018, in which she referred to herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.”

Although Johnny Depp was not named, he claims the entire article “depends on the central premise that Ms. Heard was a domestic abuse victim and that Mr. Depp perpetrated domestic violence against her.”

He claims that Heard’s abuse allegations were “conclusively refuted by two separate responding police officers, a litany of neutral third-party witnesses, and 87 newly obtained surveillance camera videos.”
