Jordan Spieth opens Saturday with eagle at British Open

And they’re off and running at the British Open.

Defending champion Jordan Spieth surrendered the Claret jug earlier in the week, but the way he started Saturday, he’ll have it for another year. He began the day three strokes back, and started by driving the green at the 380-yard par-4 first hole. One short eagle putt later, and he was one stroke off the lead.

Half an hour later, Spieth tied for the lead at -6. We already knew the early players were going low at Carnoustie on Saturday, and now it appears the big dogs are, too.
