Jose Mourinho charged by FA for alleged comments following Man Utd win over Newcastle

Jose Mourinho has been charged by the Football Association with using improper language after Manchester United's dramatic win over Newcastle earlier this month.

The United manager appeared to be letting off steam in front of the television cameras as he headed towards the tunnel after watching his team come from 2-0 down to defeat Rafael Benitez's side in stoppage time at Old Trafford.

There were claims on social media that Mourinho said “fodas filhos de puta” in Portuguese, which translates to “f--- off sons of a b----”.

The FA investigated the allegations and in a statement this afternoon said:

"It is alleged that his language at the end of the fixture, as captured by the broadcast footage, was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper.

"He has until 6pm on 19 October 2018 to respond to the charge."

Mourinho has been heavily criticised in recent weeks following the club's troubled start to the season and had woken up to reports on the morning of that match he would be sacked regardless of the Newcastle result.
