JPMorgan Chase has named Filippo Gori as its Asia-Pacific CEO, taking over from Nicolas Aguzin who now leads the New York lender's international private bank.

In his new role, Gori will develop and oversee strategy and operations for the New York-headquartered bank's businesses across 17 markets in the region, according to a memo sent to staff seen by the Post and confirmed by a spokeswoman for the bank.

Gori adds these responsibilities to his existing roles as head of banking for the Asia-Pacific region and CEO of Hong Kong.

He reports to Mary Erdoes, the CEO for asset and wealth management and Daniel Pinto, the bank's co-president.

One of the items on JPMorgan's docket is to fulfil plans to take full ownership of its mainland operations from securities, asset management to futures options next year when it celebrates its 100th anniversary in China.

Gori was named deputy CEO to Aguzin in January last year and is now taking up the reins of leadership.

The 45-year-old Italian was hired by JPMorgan as a graduate in Europe and has steadily risen through the ranks. He has been with JPMorgan for 20 years, including seven years in Hong Kong. He has held various roles within JPMorgan's corporate and investment bank as well as in asset and wealth management.

He leads the Asia-Pacific management committee.
