From Oprah Magazine

  • Twist, a remake of Oliver!, the beloved musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens tale, is filming in London.

  • The reboot stars Jude Law's lookalike son, Rafferty Law, along with Michael Caine, Rita Ora, and Game of Thrones's Lena Headey.

Fans of Oliver Twist, coooonsider yourselves in luck. The beloved Charles Dickens tale is getting the remake treatment in a Disney flick called Twist.

Oliver!, the 1968 film adaption of the acclaimed musical (and book), follows a young orphan who escapes sordid workhouse conditions only to be "adopted" by a group of hooligans led by the swarthy Fagin and his band of pickpockets. The movie took home the Best Picture Academy Award, while the Broadway show scored a Tony five years prior.

Though Oliver!, and of course the Dickensian classic, are set in Victorian England, Twist is naturally getting a modern, hip-hop reimagining. And with Ice Cube (once) reportedly signed on to also produce, according to a potentially stale Deadline article, we bet a lot of Lionel Bart's classic tunes like "Consider Yourself" and "I'd Do Anything" will feature some uptempo rapping. Plus, British singer-songwriter Rita Ora is playing Fagin's right-hand gal, the Artful Dodger, in a gender-swapped part, so that should give you another indication of the hybrid bops we can expect from the soundtrack. Here's what else we know about the Oliver! remake, including the familiar-looking chap in the titular role.

Please, sir...tell me who's in the Twist cast?!

86-year-old film legend Michael Caine will be playing Fagin, with Rita Ora (Dodger), who you may recognize from Fifty Shades Darker, by his side. Here's the Cider House Rules star shooting in London with a little help from a PA.

The role of Oliver will be played by newcomer Rafferty Law. If that name sounds vaguely familiar to you, it's because the 26-year-old is Jude Law's son. And if you've never heard of the model/musician, surely you'll recognize his face because he stole it from his famous father.

Rafferty, whose mother, Sadie Frost, was Jude's first wife (they divorced in 2003), looks so much like his 46-year-old pop, that the OprahMag.com team did a collective double take when we saw the above pic. And... this oddly coquettish one.

For reference, here's a snap of dad during his Talented Mr. Ripley days when he was just a bit older than Rafferty is now.

And, to be honest, Rafferty is also the spitting image of Ryan Phillippe circa Cruel Intentions.

We're vamping because not much else is known about the Hollywood newcomer who is somehow portraying a sweet little cockney-accented boy. That is, unless you're one of his 42,000 Instagram followers.

Adele is rumored to be playing the embattled lady of the night, Nancy, however that's yet to be confirmed. And Nancy's originally scruffy love interest, the infamous Bill Sikes, will be Game Of Thrones star Lena Headey in another gender-swapped part, according to Digital Spy.

I hear the creative team is pretty star-studded.

Well, maybe. Deadline reported in 2018 that Danny Strong would be penning the script. He's the co-creator of Empire and a screenwriter of Lee Daniels's The Butler, Game Change, and a little thing called The Hunger Games. Gilmore Girls fans might remember him as Doyle.

Hamilton's Tony-winning director, Thomas Kail was supposedly tapped to be behind the camera, according to the same article that announced Strong's involvement. But, based on Twist's IMDB page, last updated earlier this week, neither of them will be associated. So, like the lost orphan the film follows, we simply don't know what...or who to believe. If IMDB is to be our trusted source, to quote our favorite Sanderson sister, something's gone amuck since January 2018.

Sounds like things are still a bit up in the air. Do you even know when Oliver's coming out?

In short. No. Though we can see from set pics released by the Daily Mail that shooting started on October 22nd in London. We don't have any info yet on the release date, but we guestimate you could be seeing it by Christmas 2021.

Lemme guess... no trailer yet?

Um, no. But here's a photo of Rita Ora appearing cold on set.

And one last snap of Jude Law's dopplegänger offspring, which, if we're honest, is why we're here.
