“It Just Makes You Feel Otherworldly;” Chloë Sevigny Takes a Runway Turn at Simone Rocha
Those chronicling Chloë Sevigny appearances on the runway can add another to the list. Today in London the actress stepped out at Simone Rocha’s Fall 2019 show wearing an ethereal bleach-pink look with white silk detailing. “My look is kind of gothic fairy princess, flower fairy,” said Sevigny backstage before the show, just after she finished her runway rehearsal.
The catwalk is not a new place for the actress, who has walked for Imitation of Christ, Dolce & Gabbana, and Miu Miu over her career, although she admits it’s not her favorite spot. “I really don’t like walking in shows as a matter of fact,” she said, adding sardonically, “I don’t even really like attending shows!” But for Rocha, who has dressed Sevigny on several occasions, the exception was worth it. “Simone is a friend and I’m such a fan. I’ve worn her to the Met Ball and to lots of other occasions and events. I like to support other women, especially in this industry, so when she asked, I said, ‘Why not?’ Her clothing is like nothing you really see out there. It just makes you feel otherworldly.”
On the runway tonight, Sevigny was joined by a cast of Rocha’s friends and muses, including Kirsten Owen, Lily Cole, Kesewa Aboah, Olympia Campbell, and Lindsey Wixson. Her modus operandi? “I just kind of follow the girl in front of me and hope I don’t trip. Posture, try to look relaxed, try not to take it too seriously.” We’d say she aced it.
