When Kacey Musgraves won Album of the Year at the 2018 Country Music Association Awards, one very important person was there to witness it: her grandma!

After Kacey's name was announced, the camera panned to show the star embracing her special guest, who appeared to be crying tears of joy as the title song of the award-winning Golden Hour played in the background.

Up against Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett, and Dierks Bentley, Kacey was the only woman nominated in the category-something Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild was quick to point out when presenting: "For all the little girls writin' songs out there," she said before reading Kacey's name. In fact, she was one of only two women to take home awards all night (the other being Carrie Underwood for Female Vocalist of the Year).

In her acceptance speech, Kacey noted that it was exactly ten years ago that she moved to Nashville. "We poured everything we had into this [album], and I'm so proud of it," the singer said before thanking her husband, Ruston Kelly, as well as her management, crew, label, and family.

That family includes her surprise date, who actually gets a mention in a song on the album, "Slow Burn," the same track Kacey performed at the awards show ("Grandma cried when I pierced my nose," goes one line of the lyrics).

Grandma wasn't the only one crying. "[Bawled] my eyes out seeing how happy Kacey Musgraves grandma was for her when she just won that award," one fan tweeted. "Kacey Musgraves grandma is adorable," said another.

In a red carpet interview on ABC's YouTube channel prior to the awards show, Kacey said, "My grandma drove up from Texas, so she'll be here. She's very active-she used to be my booking agent back in the day. Nana is worldwide, y'all."

When asked if she thought her grandma would get starstruck, Kacey replied: "Oh, Nana loves famous people, she loves anybody famous. She's working it-she's backstage making connections."
