Kansas State beats Iowa State 20-19 with TD with no time remaining
Kansas State knocked off Iowa State in dramatic fashion on Saturday.
The Cyclones led 19-7 for most of the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats scored twice in the final 6:07 to pull out a 20-19 victory, The winning score came with no time left on the clock.
Literally zero seconds.
Trailing 19-14, Kansas State regained possession at its own 13 with 1:55 to go and moved all the way down to the one-yard line with 11 seconds to go. On first and goal, Skylar Thompson threw an incomplete pass, setting up second and goal with eight seconds to go.
With eight seconds, your team usually has at least two plays, but Thompson improvised and extended the play before finding Isaiah Zuber for a touchdown with no time remaining for a walk-off win.
The winning Thompson-to-Zuber connection means both teams finish the regular season at 7-5 with 5-4 marks in Big 12 play. KSU enters its bowl game with wins in four of its last five games.
On the other side, Iowa State lost three of its final four games. If it held on in Manhattan, ISU would have reached eight wins for the first time since 2000 and second time since 1978.
