Kanye West accuses Ariana Grande of using him to promote new song: 'People will no longer take mental health for a joke'

Kanye West has hit back at Ariana Grande after she criticised him over his feud with Drake, claiming that she’s using him to promote her latest single.

On Thursday, West posted dozens of tweets insulting Drake, accusing him of being a bully and mocking him over his trainers.

Following the attention that West’s tweets were receiving, Grande referenced the spat on Twitter, asking that her followers pay more attention to the new singles that she and Miley Cyrus were preparing to release.

“Guys, I know there are grown men arguing online rn but miley and I are dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y’all could please jus behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that’d be so sick thank u,” she wrote.

West has since responded to her tweet, referencing his struggles with mental health issues and saying that she’s using him to promote her new music.

“I know Ariana said this to be cool and didn’t mean no harm but I don’t like even slightest level of slight commentary from someone I know loves and respects me,” he tweeted.

He continued in a series of tweets, writing: “All of this foolishness weighed on my mental health so @ArianaGrande you know I got love for you but until you’re ready to really make sure everyone’s ok don’t use me or this moment to promote a song.”

In June 2018, West revealed during an interview with American radio host Big Boy that he’d been “diagnosed with a mental health condition” at the age of 39.

In his recent tweets, he described the way in which he’s been regarded by society since news of his diagnosis was made public.

“No one would ever choose to end up in a mental hospital and diagnosed with a mental disorder but god chose me to publicly go through this journey and it is beautiful,” he wrote.

“I am able to experience first hand how people who have mental health issues get written off by society.”

He also explained how he’s attempted to speak about mental health in a “serious interview”, but that people working in the press are “afraid to speak to someone who has been diagnosed but is still everyone’s favourite superhero.”

When meeting with Donald Trump in October 2018, West told him that he’d been misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder.

He outlined how a neuropsychologist who works with athletes in the NBA and NFL had stated that he was actually suffering from severe sleep deprivation.

Despite the recent tweets posted by West ridiculing Drake, one of which read: “There would never be a Drake without a Kanye West”, West has since stated that he, Drake and fellow rapper Travis Scott all still have respect for one another.

“Drake and Trav both love Ye more than anyone and I love those guys back. We love everyone,” he wrote.

Grande has since responded to West's tweets, writing that she "doesn't need to use anyone to promote anything".

She explains that while her intention was to simply compare the actions of men and women at the time, she understands now how her words may have caused offence.

"It was a joke which I understand now was probably insensitive," she says.

"I apologise if I was in any way triggering and hope u feel well today."
