Kate Middleton’s New Favorite Shoes Are Perfectly Princess-Worthy

Today, Kate Middleton stepped out in London to pay a visit to the Royal Opera House, where she toured the costume department, met with some of the principal dancers of the Royal Ballet, and even watched them rehearse some new steps. For her appearance, the Duchess of Cambridge selected an ensemble that was true to her signature polished aesthetic—a trusty two-piece skirt skirt by Oscar La Renta in a rich shade of magenta. Take a look at her shoes though, and you’ll notice that there was clearly a new kind of fancy footwear at play in the Duchess’s wardrobe.

Instead of her favorite Jimmy Choo pumps in nude, or her often-worn below-the-knee boots in suede, Middleton wore a pair of black patent pumps by Rupert Sanderson, which were furnished with an oversized gold buckle detail. The pointed heels are an archival version of Sanderson’s Nada style, and proved to be a subtly statement-making choice for Middleton, particularly paired with sleek black tights. Her embossed croc top-handle bag by Aspinal of London was equally polished, a modern take on the classic lady bag.
