Kate Winslet, Gavin O’Connor Team For Brad Ingelsby-Written Limited HBO Series ‘Mare Of Easttown’

EXCLUSIVE: Kate Winslet will make her limited television series debut in Mare of Easttown, a limited dramatic series for HBO, with Gavin O’Connor directing all the episodes. Brad Ingelsby created the drama, wrote all the episodes and will be the show runner.

Winslet will play a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder at a time when her own life is crumbling around her. O’Connor, Ingelsby and Winslet will be executive producers along with Gordon Gray and his Mayhem Pictures, and Paul Lee and Mark Roybal of wiip. Series is a co-production between HBO and wiip, latter of which was hatched by CAA to create and produce content for digital and global platforms.

Deal marks another example of HBO bringing in top A-list talent for limited series turns, this after Big Little Lies won eight Prime Time Emmy Awards for its first season. Winslet previously won an Emmy for playing the title role in the 5-part HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce.

Winslet won the Oscar for the Stephen Daldry-directed The Reader, and she has been nominated five other times. Her standout turns include Titanic, Revolutionary Road, Sense and Sensibility, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Little Children, and Steve Jobs. She most recently completed a re-team with Titanic director James Cameron in the Avatar sequels, and stars in the Roger Michel-directed Blackbird. She’ll star with Saoirse Ronan in the Francis Lee-directed Ammonite.

Ingelsby’s script work includes the films Out of the Furnace, Run All Night, American Woman and Torrance, the upcoming drama that stars Ben Affleck and was directed by O’Connor and produced by Gray.

O’Connor’s films include Tumbleweeds, Miracle, The Accountant, Pride and Glory, Warrior and Torrance. For the small screen, he directed the pilot for the hit FX series The Americans. He separately is developing a new feature based on The Green Hornet and a narrative film on Steve Gleason, the gridiron star whose courageous battle against ALS and preparation of a diary of his life for his unborn son before the disease takes too much out of him, was captured in the 2016 docu Gleason.

Winslet is represented by CAA and UK-based United Agents; O’Connor is WME, and Ingelsby is CAA and Energy Entertainment.
