Khloe Kardashian has been branded a bad role model for promoting meal replacement shakes to her 76.5 million Instagram followers days after she slammed “ridiculous diets”.

The reality TV star, 33, is on a mission to lose her postpartum baby weight after welcoming daughter True with Tristan Thompson in April.

She posted an image of herself sat on a kitchen work surface while holding a pre-made shake from Flat Tummy Co and encouraged her fans to take advantage of the company’s 20 per cent off sale.

“I’ve been working out and using @flattummyco meal replacement shakes to help me get my tummy back to where it was,” she wrote. “After using the shakes, I’m feeling really good and definitely feeling the difference. Baby weight is no joke! If you’re wanting to try them you should get on it because there’s a 20 per cent off sale going on right now!”

Kardashian was criticised for the post which many were concerned would influence “girls across the world”, while others urged her to embrace her post-baby body.

One user posted: “So your replacing meals with liquid.,...,Way to go, what a positive influence you are on young women around the world.”

Another wrote: “Unfollow... everything about this post makes me very sad. Being a new mom in my 30s myself, I am DONE following accounts that promotes being thin over loving their amazing bodies.”

A third commented: “Wow really Khloe how about not worrying about a ‘flat tummy’ right now and stop promoting this utter nonsense to your audience of young girls.”

Another accused her of being a bad role model, posting: “Celebrate the curves and stop sending idiotic messages to young woman and girls across the world! #positiverolemodelsneeded.”

The post comes days after Kardashian hit back at reports she has turned to a fad diet to help her shift the weight quickly.

She tweeted: “I truly dislike when people report I've lost a tremendous amount of weight in a short amount of time or when people claim I'm doing these ridiculous diets. It's really setting the wrong tone.

“I believe in making lifestyle changes when it comes to my food.”

Khloe’s sister Kim Kardashian sparked a similar backlash last month after she promoted a lollipop which acts as an appetite-suppressant.

The mother-of-three was branded a “toxic influence” and accused of promoting eating disorders.
