WASHINGTON (AP) -- Specialty drugmaker KV Pharmaceuticals said Thursday that it has named a former Wyeth Pharmaceuticals executive as chairman of its board of directors.
Joseph Mahady previously served as president of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, where he led the company's $20 billion global medicines business. Mahady also has served on the boards of various health care companies, including Immunex, EKR Therapeutics and Discovery Labs.
Last month KV Pharmaceuticals emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy with the help of investments from several financial firms. KV will be announcing additional new board members in the coming weeks.
The St. Louis company focuses on women's health, marketing treatments for hot flashes, yeast infections and the prevention of preterm births.
