Kyle Busch will start first at Pocono

Kyle Busch scored his second-straight pole award Friday. And he’s hoping Sunday’s race at Pocono goes a little better than last week’s race at Dover.

Busch posted the fastest lap of the third round of qualifying Friday afternoon. He’ll start alongside Martin Truex Jr., who also started second at Dover.

On Busch’s first pit stop of the day at Dover his team didn’t get any lug nuts tight on his left-rear wheel before he took off. The wheel came off Busch’s car after he exited pit road and Busch was forced to return to pit road for a new wheel and to have the team fix damage to the car.

Wednesday, NASCAR suspended Busch’s crew chief Adam Stevens and the team’s tire carrier and tire changer each four weeks because of the violation. Busch’s interim crew chief over the next four weeks is team engineer Ben Beshore.

Pocono is one of two tracks Busch hasn’t won at in the Cup Series. The other is Charlotte, where he finished second two weeks ago.

Here’s the full lineup for Sunday’s 400-mile race. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will have to start at the rear of the field after blowing an engine during practice Friday morning.
