Landstar System (LSTR) Meets Q3 Earnings Estimates

Landstar System (LSTR) came out with quarterly earnings of $2.76 per share, in line with the Zacks Consensus Estimate. This compares to earnings of $2.58 per share a year ago. These figures are adjusted for non-recurring items.

A quarter ago, it was expected that this freight shipper and warehouser would post earnings of $3.25 per share when it actually produced earnings of $3.05, delivering a surprise of -6.15%.

Over the last four quarters, the company has surpassed consensus EPS estimates two times.

Landstar , which belongs to the Zacks Transportation - Truck industry, posted revenues of $1.82 billion for the quarter ended September 2022, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 1.48%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $1.73 billion. The company has topped consensus revenue estimates three times over the last four quarters.

The sustainability of the stock's immediate price movement based on the recently-released numbers and future earnings expectations will mostly depend on management's commentary on the earnings call.

Landstar shares have lost about 16.9% since the beginning of the year versus the S&P 500's decline of -22%.

This truckload transportation services provider is expected to post quarterly earnings of $1.37 per share in its upcoming report, which represents a year-over-year change of +34.3%. The consensus EPS estimate for the quarter has remained unchanged over the last 30 days.

Covenant Logistics' revenues are expected to be $296 million, up 7.8% from the year-ago quarter.
