Largest option buying in equities so far

Nearing the halfway mark in today's session, here are the individual equity names with the most call and put buying on optionMONSTER's ActionTracker data system.

MannKind (MNKD): For the second day in a row, a large short position in the January 5 calls was closed and rolled to January 9s. More than 30,000 contracts traded at each strike. The investor paid $1.40 and raised by $4 the level at which they must sell their shares. MNKD rose 9.79 percent to $6.84.

Facebook (FB): More than 17,000 of the 25.50 weekly calls expiring next Friday, May 31, were purchased, mostly for $0.22 to $0.40, as investors look for upside in the social-media company. FB rose 0.17 percent to $25.20.

Alerian MLP fund (AMLP): An investor bought 16,600 July 17 puts for $0.25 and $0.30 against open interest of 1,363 contracts, looking to protect against a pullback in the pipeline fund. AMLP fell 0.96 percent to $17.90.
