SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The latest round of oil and gas lease sales in Utah netted the federal government nearly $140,000.
The U.S. Bureau of Land Management says it sold all 12 parcels on the auction block this week covering more than 14,600 acres.
Agency officials in Salt Lake City say they took in $115,000 in bonus bids, $22,000 in rental fees and another $1,800 in administrative fees.
The highest bid per acre came from the Louisiana-based Bean Resources. It bid $25 per acre on seven different parcels for a total of $41,925.
Detailed plans to carry out the oil or gas exploration will require BLM's approval of a formal environmental review.
