Leading 52-7, Oregon calls timeout to ice Oregon State kicker before halftime
There is no mercy in rivalry games.
During Saturday’s Civil War, the annual rivalry game between Oregon and Oregon State, the Ducks raced out to a 52-7 lead just before halftime.
The 1-10 Beavers tried to kick a field goal to cut the deficit to 52-10 before the break.
Oregon called timeout. Cruel.

The Ducks would eventually win 69-10.
Time of possession was about the only thing that was even in the first half. Oregon had 431 total yards to Oregon State’s 121 as the Ducks threw for 227 and rushed for 204. Four of Oregon’s seven touchdowns came on the ground as running back Royce Freeman had 16 first-half carries for 115 yards and two scores.
A win means Oregon, 7-5, finishes the season two games above .500 and still has a bowl game to go. Oregon State is playing out the string under interim coach Cory Hall after coach Gary Andersen resigned earlier in the season.
