ROCHESTER, NY--(Marketwired - Jul 18, 2013) - Miami Heat forward LeBron James has been selected as the Hickok Belt Award winner for the month of June 2013 -- marking the third time he was selected for the award this year. Voting was conducted by a select panel of members of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA). James was selected based on the strength of his performance in leading the Miami Heat to their second straight NBA Championship. Named NBA Finals MVP and League MVP, James capped an outstanding season with a record-tying 37 points in a victorious Game 7 effort versus the San Antonio Spurs.
Other finalists for the month of June in order of how the NSSA voters ranked them included: Corey Crawford (hockey), Yasiel Puig (baseball), Miguel Cabrera (baseball), Rafael Nadal (tennis), Serena Williams (tennis), Justin Rose (golf), Inbee Park (golf), Abby Wambach (soccer) and Bartolo Colon (baseball).
James' selection as the Hickok Belt Award winner for June 2013 recognizes him as "the best of the best" in professional sports for the third time this year and makes him a strong candidate to receive the 2013 overall award. James joins other 2013 monthly winners Colin Kaepernick, Joe Flacco and Miguel Cabrera as contenders for the overall 2013 Hickok Belt Award.
