Leicester City move to eight points behind league leaders Liverpool after securing their eighth consecutive Premier League win through a 4-1 spanking over Aston Villa.

Jamie Vardy opened up the scoreline for the Foxes with his strike in the 20th minute, his Villa Park masterclass is now the eighth successive game he’s found the back of the net.

The prolific forward scored the closing goal of the match in the second half. The 32-year-old has now scored 11 goals in Leicester’s last eight Premier League fixtures.

Leicester’s second goal came from a Kelechi Iheanacho volley, who caught a lovely cross in from James Maddison.

Villa secured a consolation goal on the cusp of half-time through Jack Grealish, but the match was put to bed as Jonny Evans and Vardy struck in the 49th and 75th minute respectively.

Vardy now has 16 goals to his name and is currently leading the battle for the Golden Boot – the next highest scorer behind him is Tammy Abraham on 11 goals.

Leicester’s win at Villa Park is their 12th of the season – the Foxes are on their best run of form since they won the league title in the 2015/16 season.

Aston Villa have won just four of their 16 games played and currently sit in 17th place in the table – level on points with Southampton, who occupy the third relegation spot.

The Claret and Blue will look to bounce back against Sheffield United next weekend, whilst Brendan Rodgers will be thrilled with his side’s form as they prepare to host Norwich at the King Power Stadium.
