Lennie James has revealed he's still adjusting to joining Fear the Walking Dead, having started on the spin-off just one week after wrapping on The Walking Dead.

James's character Morgan will transfer over to Fear for the show's upcoming fourth season, though the exact circumstances of the crossover remain a mystery.

"I had seven days between the end of the one and the start of the other," he told Digital Spy. "And I'm only two months into [Fear], so it would be unfair of me to make comparisons or comments.

"What I will say is it's an incredible opportunity that I've been offered, and I can't think of anybody else who is doing – or has done – what I've been offered, or what I'm in the middle of doing.

"So being in that unique position, I'm really relishing it, and I'm really looking forward to playing in that particular sandbox."

It seems that there's a whole lot of change coming Fear the Walking Dead's way this season: filming has moved to Texas, while Once Upon a Time's Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg are taking over from Dave Erickson as joint showrunners.

Garret Dillahunt, Jenna Elfman and Maggie Grace will also be joining the show as a trio of new character: John, Naomi and Althea.

"At the moment, it's a lot of people finding their feet," James suggested. "There's a lot of people re-balancing. We've relocated the thing. It's got new showrunners. It's a majority of a new crew. They've got different characters coming in, and [characters] who have gone.

"So there's a lot of adjustment that we're still going through. But it's settling down, and it's a lot of fun, and it's a good bunch of people trying to do a really good job."

James will exit The Walking Dead at the end of its eighth season, with new episodes airing on AMC from this Sunday at 9/8c, and on FOX in the UK. Fear the Walking Dead season 4 begins Sunday, April 22 on AMC in the US and the following day on AMC Global in the UK.

Lennie James stars in Sky Atlantic's Save Me, a new six-part thriller beginning Wednesday, February 28 at 9pm. All episodes will also be available to watch on Sky Box Sets.
