Let the Packers' Mayor of Door County give you a tour

I'm JR Radcliffe, and this is the Daily Briefing newsletter by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Sign up here to get it sent to your inbox each morning.

Your weather Friday looks like the picture of fall, with 63 degrees for a high and partly sunny, and maybe some showers after bedtime. Weekend temperatures are a shade higher with an steadily increasing chance for precipitation into Sunday.

Packers running back AJ Dillon, the Prince of the Peninsula

Since arriving in Green Bay, bruising running back AJ Dillon has become a fan favorite, and it certainly helps that he's become so enamored with one of the state's most beloved treasures, the Door County peninsula. But I'm not sure we appreciate just how much he loves the place. For him, it's more than just some pretty lake views and goats on a roof. (If you know, you know.)

Sports columnist Lori Nickel got the full rundown from Dillon on his favorite spots, from the "best wings I’ve ever had in America" to his adopted home in Egg Harbor to his favorite place to pick apples. Plus, you get the full story on how he fell in love with Door County in the first place (spoiler alert: his wife, Gabrielle, has a lot to do with it).

The man has even boosted tourism in the area for some businesses, and you're not going to get a more complete travelogue from a professional athlete elsewhere.

Locals have even more suggestions for Dillon (or anyone else looking for a great vacation spot).

You can watch Dillon in a totally different environment on Sunday, when the Packers meet Tampa Bay in a battle of presumed NFC heavyweights, with a kickoff around 3:25 p.m. CT. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers meet again in a clash of all-time greats.

Another Milwaukee venue is getting a name change

This one probably won't be as jarring as Miller Park becoming American Family Field, which is something we have definitely embraced and accepted by now. LOL just kidding.

The Milwaukee Rep's new-look facility, once it's remodeled, will be called the Associated Bank Theater Center through 2042.

Milwaukee Rep plans to build a new theater complex at its current site downtown on East Wells Street, completely redoing two of its three theaters as well as expanding its facilities into some little-used loading dock space.

Under the current timeline, construction would begin in late 2023 and conclude in mid-2025.

Not sure we can find a glib replacement for "The Rep" in here. "The Assoc?" "The Bank?" "The A-Bank?"

New area code alert! Meet our new digits, 353

Wisconsin is running out of 608 area-code prefixes; those of you in Madison or west of the state capital know those three digits well.

Area code 353 is on its way, and new telephone customers will be assigned that area code in parts of southwestern and southern Wisconsin starting in 2023.

Everybody gets to keep their current number, so stop panicking!

It's been a hot minute since he got new area codes in Wisconsin. The 534 area code started sharing space with 715 for the "up north" portion of Wisconsin in 2010 (I know, I'm threatening to open a can of worms there).

In 1997, 920 was born for Green Bay/Fox Cities/kinda-everything-north-of-Milwaukee-that's-not-up-north-yet and in 1999, 262 arrived for the suburbs of Milwaukee.

4-1-4, 4eva, friends. Enjoy your weekend!
