Liberty Global bid for Virgin Media could come within days, FT says

After Virgin Media (VMED) confirmed in a press release that it is in discussions with Liberty Global (LBTYA) concerning a possible transaction, Financial Times stated that several people familiar with the situation said Liberty's bid could be announced in the coming days, though added that the deal has not been finalized and could still fall apart. If Liberty acquires the U.K.’s second-largest pay television operator, the company would be in direct competition with BSkyB (BSYBY), which is controlled by News Corp. (NWSA), the report noted.
