On a per-share basis, the Englewood, Colorado-based company said it had net income of 4 cents.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 4 cents per share.
The media and entertainment company posted revenue of $585 million in the period.
Liberty Media shares have risen 3 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 2 percent in the last 12 months.
