It seems the world just can't get enough Lizzo! She's graced covers, music charts, and now Pepsi has announced that the "Truth Hurts" singer will be joining London bloke [Harry Styles] as a special guest for the Pepsi Zero Sugar Superbowl party. Producer and DJ Mark Ronson will be spinning a special set for the pre-game show taking place in Miami, Florida. Lizzo is known for giving theatrical performances in eye-catching wardrobe and this is right on par with what viewers expect for the yearly football spectacle.
Pepsi Party To Kick Off The Weekend
Before the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs face off on the football field for Super Bowl LIV, Pepsi has put together a visual feat that's larger than life just like the game itself to kick off the weekend of festivities. The show will take place at Miami's Meridian at Island Gardens. The 65,000 square foot venue will be laced in neon lights, mirrors, LED walls and projections according to Billboard. “I can’t wait to hit the Pepsi stage, perform and party with Harry and Mark! Let’s go Miami!” Lizzo said.
Backlash From Harry Styles Fans
Apparently some fans of the former One Direction member Harry Styles are not happy that he has agreed to perform at a show affiliated with the NFL. They even started a hashtag movement #HarryBackOut in an attempt to get the singer to renege on his commitment. This backlash is rooted in the on-going controversy surrounding Colin Kaepernick who lost his position as a result of taking a knee during the national anthem in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Big Names At Half Time Show
Though Styles and Lizzo will be performing at an official party hosted by Pepsi and will not hit the field during the halftime show, they will set the tone for the festivities. Those who will be tuning in to watch Superbowl LIV can expect a larger-than-life performance from pop-music icons JLo and Shakira. JLo has also been on the receiving end of some criticism as her fans think she should also step down from her performance. There have also been reports that the two divas have not been seeing eye to eye as they prepare to hit the stage.
Despite the drama, Shakira and JLo are both in high gear preparing for the performance. Shakira recently shared an image from rehearsal on Instagram that shows her jumping up in midair with a microphone in hand like a true rockstar. Though Lizzo will not share the stage with these beauties, the combination of their massive energies and ability to capture the attention of a crowd will certainly make for a weekend of great entertainment. Though the game is the main event, everyone knows that it's the musical performances and commercials that really set the tone and Superbowl LIV will be no different.
