London hosts World Conference of Banking Institutes
Technology will be the focus at the 23rd World Conference of Banking Institutes as the landmark event opens in London on Monday.
Organised by The London Institute of Banking & Finance, the event will bring together perspectives from across the world on the future of the industry, with blockchain at the heart of much of the discussion.
The conference runs across Monday September 16 and Tuesday September 17 at the famous Guildhall in the heart of the City of London.
Visitors will have the opportunity to brainstorm on the challenges facing the future of banking and to network with banking and finance professionals from across the world.
The World Conference of Banking Institutes (WCBI) was inaugurated in 1975 as an opportunity for banking educators and standards-setters from across the world to share best practice. Since then, the scope of this prestigious conference has grown consistently.
The WCBI is now a global forum that brings together a high-level audience of banking practitioners, policy makers, regulators and service providers. It facilitates debate about the future of the sector, collaboration and networking.
The last time the WCBI was hosted in London was 1979 – 40 years ago. Every two years, a different institute is entrusted with the curation and organisation of the WCBI.
The conference covered a wide range of topical issues over the past 43 years and was held across the globe in Europe, Africa, Asia, America and Oceania.
Throughout Monday and Tuesday an impressive panel of high calibre speakers will share their expertise in technology, regulation and conduct, international trade, talent and skills, and responding to global threats.
